TITLE: Locum Support Worker
GRADE: N3
RESPONSIBLE TO: Home Manager
LOCATION: 99 Chalton Street
PURPOSE
To assist qualified nursing staff in the provision of high standards of nursing and mental health care to residents who suffer from mental health problems and require high levels of physical and social care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Service to Residents
1.1 To actively participate in the care planning process and to assist individual clients in achieving goals set within their care plan.
1.2 Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse assist with the key working of a group of clients in the home.
1.3 To report any changes in clients health/well-being (physical or psychological).
1.4 To assist in the preparation and serving of food as required.
1.5 To assist in all aspects of maintaining the home as a safe, healthy and comfortable environment for all who live and work in it.
1.6 Throughout your work conduct yourself in a manner, which promotes maximum user involvement wherever possible.
1.7 To be able to work on your own initiative to meet clients needs without continuous supervision e.g. outside of the home.
2. Administrative and Financial Duties
2.1 Maintain records relating to service users and the service complying with registration requirements and Umbrella’s policies and procedures with due regard to confidentiality and the clients’ rights to access their personal file.
2.2 Ensure all furnishings of the fabric of the building comply with appropriate legislation taking into consideration cyclical schedules.
2.5 Ensure all petty cash expenditure is accurately recorded and reconciled and all budgets adhered to.
3. Liaison
3.1 Maintain professional relations and good channels of communication with all departments within the organisation and colleagues in other Umbrella projects.
3.2 Assist in liaison with external agencies as appropriate.
3.3 Recognise the important role of relatives, friends and other visitors and to maintain a welcoming approach at all times. Deal with or refer queries or complaints received.
3.4 Maintain appropriate links with the local community e.g. other services, shops, places of worship and leisure facilities.
3.5 Participate in regular handovers, staff meetings and team days.
6. General
6.1 Have a clear understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
6.2 Participate in the opportunities for personal and professional development that exist e.g. supervision and training.
6.3 Uphold and implement Umbrella’s Managing Diversity and Equality Policy at all times.
6.4 Ensure the home complies with all relevant legislation and Umbrella’s policy and procedures at all times, and implementing any changes as and when they arise.
7. Support and Supervision
7.1 Line management will be available from the Home Manager.
