TITLE: Locum Cook/Housekeeper
LEVEL: LU2

PURPOSE
To provide high standards of catering and housekeeping services within a registered care home adults with severe and enduring mental health care needs.
To work with staff and clients in achieving a pleasant homely atmosphere and to show respect and understanding of clients needs at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Catering
1.1 Prepare, cook and serve meals as per menu.
1.2 Cater for special requirements e.g. birthday cakes, special diets etc.
1.3 Comply with relevant food hygiene requirements.
2. Cleaning
2.1 Undertake cleaning of all areas within the house as per schedules using appropriate chemicals/materials.
2.2 Undertake any deep cleaning of areas, upholstery, curtains, or carpet cleaning as directed by line manager or as necessary.
2.3 Maintenance of all living plant arrangements within the building.
2.4 Remove and dispose of waste products in line with guidelines and legislation.
2.5 Comply with relevant environmental health legislation and health and safety requirements.
3. Administration
3.1 Compile menus and review, ensuring nutritional and dietary needs of the clients are met, in consultation with clients and staff.
3.2 Co-ordinate provision of adequate and appropriate catering and cleaning supplies for the home.
3.3 Oversee safe and efficient storage, usage and records of food and cleaning supplies.
3.4 Take an active part in assisting the Team Leader/Deputy in planning and efficient use of food/cleaning budgets.
3.5 Assist in ensuring the safety and maintenance of equipment and environment (as per Health & Safety requirements) and recording/reporting of the same.
3.6 Assist the Team Leader/Deputy in ensuring appropriate duty rota cover for the catering and housekeeping service at Hurdwick Place.
4. GENERAL
4.1 Uphold and implement Umbrella’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
4.2 Develop and maintain professional relationships and good channels of communication both internally and externally.
4.3 Act at all times in the best interest of Umbrella, drawing any malpractice to the attention of the Team Leader or Housing Support Services Manager.
4.4 Work flexibly and be prepared to perform other duties commensurate with the role either at your initial place of work or at any of Umbrella’s other projects.
4.5 Participate and assist in training as directed.

SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION
Line management support and supervision will be available to you regularly from the Team Leader/Deputy.
