Welcome

Umbrella was founded in 1989 to provide community mental health services in Camden to clients resettled from the Friern Hospital closure. Today we provide services across North, Central, South and East London. We support and work with 500 people each day in a variety of settings with a range of needs;

These include:

• People with intensive needs requiring residential or nursing care
• People in crisis needing residential, night centre and phone line services
• Older people with mental health needs/dementia requiring specialist domiciliary care
• People with complex needs in supported housing or in their own homes
• Clients with specific needs arising from personality disorder;
  • ie challenging behaviour, drug or alcohol misuse
• Adults needing support, skills training and supported employment

Umbrella is a charity and a limited company. We work with a wide range of people: Service commissioners in health, social care, housing and employment; Partners in the NHS, local authorities and the voluntary sector; Clients, carers, and supporters who act as volunteers or generally take an interest in our work.

Whilst we receive funding from statutory bodies, we actively fundraise to:

• Add value to services for the direct benefit of individual clients;
• Support clients in recovery as volunteers across the organisation;
• Improve the quality, impact and benefit of individual services.
